Veterans Fire Station

Designed to reference the forms and materials of the Chinook Winds and King's Heights firehalls, the Veterans Fire Station is the third fire station to be completed by GGA in the City of Airdrie.

As the facility serves both the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), this firehall includes three apparatus bays and accommodates four Airdrie Fire Department staff on a 24 hour shift interval and three EMS staff. Fire department staff are equipped with full living, cooking, resting and exercising areas with the EMS staff accommodations include a smaller living, cooking and resting areas and have the option to share the exercise, laundry and meeting rooms.

As the City of Airdrie is dedicated to Sustainable Design, there were many consideration incorporated into the design including; improved water efficiency through drought resistance landscaping and where possible, low flow fixtures and low water consumption appliances; energy and atmosphere through high energy performance equipment, optimized building envelope and glazing specifications to ultimately reduce energy consumption and enhanced indoor environmental quality.
